GREENWICH- State Rep. Livvy Floren of Greenwich and Stamford has signed on to the “Community Covenant” project which is a national initiative to help returning veterans.

Floren said, “Greenwich has always had a great record of volunteerism and this program would continue that tradition. The federal government needs the assistance of local volunteer resources in order to maximize the quality of its care for returning veterans and their families.”

The program is designed to foster and sustain effective state and community partnerships with the Armed Services to improve the quality of life for Soldiers and their Families, both at their current duty stations and as they transfer to other states. It is a formal commitment of support by state and local communities to Soldiers and Families of the Armed Services- Active, Guard and Reserve.

Floren is asking the Town of Greenwich to formally approve and endorse the Community Covenant project for the town and encouraging local civic groups to organize themselves into a “go to” entity to which formal professional care-giving enterprises can turn to obtain volunteer support.
